Step 1 – Estimating and Design Consulation:

We will meet with you to discuss the type of floor coating that you would like to have (stain, clear polish, chip, metallic or quartz). During the estimate we look for any coatings that need to be removed, cracks or pitting damage that needs to be repaired. We will then measure the surface that is to be coated as it is sold by the square foot. Once a quote is approved, we will setup a day and time to transform your floor. Our installation times are very flexible – we can perform daytime installations as well as overnight installations should the project be for a commercial, industrial or retail space that needs to be open again in the morning.

Step 2 – Diamond Grinding:

Diamond Grinding Flooring Preparation for Polyaspartic Flooring Installation by Creative Concrete Coatings of CTTo ensure proper adhesion of the Polyaspartic Coating, our professional team will diamond grind the floor, including removing any existing coating off of the floor. The diamond grinding process grinds the top of the concrete removing just the cream coat to expose the pores of the concrete, thus allowing the coating to soak into the floor. This is where a Polyaspartic Flooring is different, and superior to an Epoxy Floor Coating. Epoxy Flooring is a coating that just sits on the top of the concrete, and therefore does not allow a good mechanical bond to happen. This is why epoxy coatings fail.

Polyaspartic Floor Coating, by design, are multi-layer solutions. The base coat is typically pigmented to help bring out the color scheme that you have chosen, and due to the Diamond Grinding process, this base coat soaks into the pores of the concrete – versus sitting on top of the concrete “cream” coat.

Step 3 – Crack and Surface Repair:

After diamond grinding the entire surface, our professional team of installers will repair any cracks in the floor using a putty that adheres well to concrete and accepts the coatings being applied.

Step 4 – Polyaspartic Installation:

Once the floor has been diamond ground and reparied, the coatings are either rolled or sprayed on depending on which coating was chosen.

On chip floors, the chips are applied after two base coats and then followed by a heavy clear coat.

A big advantage to a Polyaspartic Floor coating is that the products we use normally cure in about an hour. This allows us to put multiple coats down in a day, whereas a typical epoxy needs to be applied one coat every 24 hours.

Step 5 – Curing Time:

Once all the coatings are installed we ask people to stay off of the floor for at least 3 hours before walking on it and 24 before driving on it.

That’s it, now it’s time to enjoy your new Polyaspartic Floor Coating!
